Examity Grows by 100% in 2018
Expansion of online proctoring leader reflects emphasis on learning validation
Newton, Mass., Jan. 22, 2019
Examity, the world leader in learning validation and online proctoring, today announced that it launched partnerships with more than 120 higher education institutions and certification providers in 2018. The company’s growth generated increases of more than 100 percent in proctoring sessions, headcount, and revenue during the past year. Recently named to Deloitte’s Fast 500 list as the fastest-growing education technology company in North America, Examity’s multimodal proctoring and identity verification solution is used by more than 500 universities, corporations, and certification providers worldwide.
“Our students expect access, convenience, and quality from online learning programs – so it has become increasingly important for us over the past years to make the entire learning experience, including assessments, convenient and secure,” said Rick Shearer, Director of Research for Penn State World Campus. “Examity has enabled us to provide our students with flexible, accessible learning opportunities, while also assuring academic integrity that is critical to a high-quality educational experience.”
Examity’s expansion reflects increasing demand for secure online learning and testing solutions among not just higher education institutions, but employers and associations. One-third of all college students take at least one course online. Nine in 10 companies offer digital learning, responding to the needs of a growing number of employees who prefer on-demand and more personalized educational opportunities.
“Our work reflects a fundamental shift taking place in online education — from expanding access to validating the learning itself,” said Michael London, founder and CEO of Examity. “We’re helping organizations respond to the rapidly shifting assessment landscape by building technology that can ensure the integrity of online learning and test-taking experiences at a massive scale.”
In 2018, Examity proctored more than 1 million exams worldwide for a diverse cross-section of employers and higher education institutions, including Amazon, Coursera, Duolingo, Indiana University, and Western Governors University. The company’s solution, which includes live, record-and-review, and fully automated proctoring options, is enabled by AI and machine learning algorithms designed to protect exam content and streamline the testing experience.
In addition to being named to Deloitte’s Fast 500, Examity was recognized by the Boston Business Journal as one of the ten fastest-growing companies in Massachusetts. The company acquired the Atlanta-based proctoring provider BVirtual in April 2018, and last fall opened a new office at the former TripAdvisor headquarters in Newton, MA.
