A lot has changed in 2020. But one thing that hasn’t is Examity’s commitment to the health and safety of its employees. To find out how Examity is navigating these challenging times, we asked Kathy Glebus, Vice President of Human Resources, about the steps that are being taken, the resources that are in place, and what the future holds as employees return to the workplace.

Q: Now that Examity has begun returning to the office, what measures have been put in place to ensure the well-being of employees?
The health and safety of our employees has always been our top priority. Examity has followed CDC, White House and local government guidelines to ensure our office is safe and ready for occupancy. This includes having multiple sanitation stations throughout the office, providing nightly decontamination cleanings, modifying our seating to ensure safe distancing, placing multiple air purifiers in communal areas, participating in rotational work schedules, and employing a bring-your-own-mask policy.

Q: Examity’s team environment is unmatched in the industry. How do you keep your team feeling unified during a time that asks for so much physical separation?
Feeling unified is more important than ever. Daily stand ups, weekly department check-ins, one-on-one meetings, and company updates have helped keep everyone informed and well connected. By using impactful collaboration tools like Zoom and Slack, we have been able to  ensure that our flow of information remains fluid. We also have channels on these outlets that exist solely for the purpose of sharing fun, positive things, whether it be a cute pet photo or a relatable gif. 

Q: COVID-19 has affected a lot of people, both physically and mentally. What are some of the resources that Examity is providing to keep employees happy and stress-free? 
These times certainly have been challenging for all. In order to help keep our employees mentally healthy, we are providing resources for additional support. One program is the Learn to Live program, which provides online, self-directed, coach-supported programs to cope with moderate stress and any anxiety. Examity also encourages employees who need additional help to explore the resources provided by Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We want to make a difficult situation easier for everyone to manage. Having these avenues open for anyone who needs shows our team that we’re here to support them.  

Q: COVID-19 is keeping many people on their toes. How is Examity working to ensure that employees are getting their questions answered and are receiving the support they need? 
We encourage everyone to engage in an open dialogue with their managers, as well as Human Resources, to help formulate strategies to manage any concerns. We’re here to provide help and understanding. We want all of our employees to feel safe voicing any questions they may have. 

Q: What will the process look like for welcoming on-site visitors, and what safety measures will be in place?
On-site visitors are by appointment only, and all visitors will be required to wear a mask when in the office. In addition, office doors will be locked at all times, and visitors must be accompanied by an employee for the duration of their visit.

Q: What tips do you have for other organizations or individuals that are returning to a common workplace? 
Be patient. Listen. Be flexible. These are uncharted waters for all of us. Keep an open mind and work to understand the needs of both your employees and your business. Find a positive way to bring the two together.

Q: How do you feel the team has grown from this experience? What does the future hold?
We as a company have grown tremendously. Examity has always been employee-focused, but now more than ever, our bond is our strength. The transition to working remotely has been very smooth, especially given that we have always offered a flexible, work from home schedule prior to COVID. Our future is bright thanks to the dedication of our workforce. We look forward to being able to welcome everyone back to the office soon.
