How long have you worked at Examity?
Since June of 2020.

What work do you do here, and why do you find it gratifying?
As a full-stack developer, I have spent the majority of my time here breaking our application’s components into separate, more configurable pieces. In this process, much of my time has been spent reworking the UI, but I have also put in extensive work on the back end of our application.

Why do you love working with your colleagues?
The product team is a very diverse and open-minded group of individuals and every day I learn something new. We respect each other and give everyone a chance to shine.

What was the biggest unexpected challenge you faced when first starting with Examity?
Early in my time at Examity, I took on a project to upgrade our entire user interface framework’s version for three major releases. This was perhaps my largest endeavor to date. As with any major application upgrade, there were a number of intricacies that needed attention, but the fact that I was so new to the code base presented a steeper learning curve than expected.

What advice do you have for prospective Examity employees?
Be as flexible as possible with learning new tools and systems. As a developer, there is a diverse set of technologies that we use in our application, so it’s important to soak them up and add them to your repertoire. Usually, I’ll work with Angular on the front end of programming, C# and Python for the back end, and I also write SQL queries and make use of Azure and Twilio.

Fun fact your colleagues might not know about you.
I have aced a hole in disc golf at Borderland State Park – which is the equivalent of a hole-in-one for regular golf.

When I’m not at Examity, I’m probably _____.
…keeping up with baseball statistics and trends, or enjoying the outdoors (when the New England weather allows).
