Principal Software Engineer (Newton, MA)

Position Overview
The Principal Software Engineer is responsible for working with all elements of our solution, including the front and back end, to enhance, optimize and expand Examity’s leading learning validation solution. This individual will work closely with product managers UX, engineering, DevOps, and quality assurance teams both in-house and offshore.

Essential Duties

  • Design and build advanced cloud and mobile applications employing the Agile/Scrum methodology.
  • Build, test, and deploy innovative customer-facing products encompassing a highly intuitive user experience.
  • Teach proper engineering discipline and practices, particularly using Python, while serving as a role model.
  • Contribute to an Agile team that solves complex challenges and builds quality software on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of software experience with Python, AngularJS, C#, ASP.Net Core, or similar technologies.
  • Background in developing and deploying SaaS applications and services into production using CI/CD tools.
  • Experience in building micro-services, REST based APIs, CI/CD tools.
  • Proven record of team leadership.
  • Exposure to software architecture.
  • Experience building scalable web applications in a variety of cloud implementations.

Position Overview
The Chief Architect’s role oversees all end-to-end architecture including infrastructure, database and software components. This person will provide architectural oversight and governance processes with the team, application, and product to ensure consistency across offerings both at a business and enterprise level. We are seeking an innovative, hands-on leader who will create, communicate and drive our technology strategy. This position reports to the CTO.

Essential Duties

  • Work at the intersection of infrastructure and software engineering, and design and deploy cloud infrastructure using Azure & AWS.
  • Provide guidance to end-to-end architecture working across cross functional teams, documenting design principles on messaging and interaction across components.
  • Serve as the technical champion of systems and its interaction at scale.
  • Provide PaaS offerings that are easy to consume, elastic, secure, and reliable using commercially available cloud solutions.
  • Bring together cross-functional teams and build automation to deliver programmable infrastructure. Design the cloud and container strategy around SaaS Solutions.
  • Provide well-informed guidance regarding the application of the platform and other supporting technologies to assist in the deployment of public & private cloud service offerings. This includes developing the company’s public and private cloud roadmap and extending functionality.
  • Facilitate guidance on definition of done, examine test coverage with focus on scalability, performance and availability.
  • Collaborate with the operations team on complex issues and incidents effecting customer base.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, bridging our technical and business audiences during solution planning, development, and deployment.
  • Influence business stakeholders on strategic product direction.
  • Establish enterprise-wide architecture practices that are used by various architects to ensure Examity’s vision can be diligently executed upon.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or closely related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience in defining architecture strategies. Background as a chief architect or principal-level enterprise architect for an entire organization or a large portfolio.
  • Experience providing strategic technology direction and architecture vision, encompassing an enterprise view across a large portfolio of capabilities.
  • Exposure to large scale B2B cloud companies with global presence.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure and associated cloud technologies, Microservices, and DevOps tools and technologies is a requirement. Should possess building strategies for Cloud and APIs enablement and usage, with associated architecture concepts for security, native vs. containerization and multi-cloud abilities.
  • Expertise in building applications, solutions and reusable capabilities as well as integration with SaaS solutions using superior security, standard methodologies and leading technologies.
  • Extensive experience in defining technology blueprints and roadmaps that include establishing technology standards and policies.
  • Advanced programming experience with Python, Java, C#, or equivalent.

Position Overview
Examity’s Senior DBA is responsible for the design and management of data infrastructure and ecosystem, including both our on-prem physical database servers, as well as the cloud. Ability to act as a team player, contributor, and thought leader is crucial to the success in the role. The ideal candidate is an inquisitive, results-driven technologist who is passionate about building a forward-thinking and highly scalable data infrastructure needed for the company to drive growth and business value.

Essential Duties

  • Assist developers in creating scripts to manage the database schema, and creating new schema required by developers. Define, design, document, guide, and track the database schema.
  • Create environment-specific databases (e.g. development, unit testing etc).
  • Work to improve database performance specifically on queries, triggers, and stored procedures.
  • Provide guidance to the 24/7 database administration team for all SQL Server production databases, services, and infrastructure, both in house and cloud resident. The team also supports development and quality testing environments as needed.
  • Conduct systematic performance tuning (i.e., server, database and query performance tuning, database-related component tuning, and product-specific database request tuning).
  • Assist in development, efficiency improvements and implementation of database policies and procedures for data security and integrity. Maintain environment metadata reporting frameworks and identify trends within the environment to further increase efficiency.
  • Optimizing and tuning workloads while optimizing queries to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Respond to emergency database related alerts, performing scheduled maintenance, and supporting release deployment activities during periods of low traffic (this may or may not be outside of work hours).
  • Working with the infrastructure and development teams to diversify risk by migrating SaaS microservices/applications to Azure or AWS.
  • Research SQL capabilities in Azure/AWS and other database technologies that might be suitable for Examity.
  • Utilize system administrators and developers to assess, develop and implement a disaster recovery plan including recovery points, recovery time objectives and business continuity plans.

  • 5+ years of relevant SQL Server Database Administration and/or Database Architecture experience with a passion to learn.

Position Overview 

The Director, Business Development (UK) is a trusted representative for Examity out in the assessment market, developing excellent relationships, contributing to the industry with online proctoring expertise, and driving new business. This position will report to Examity’s Vice President, Professional Business Development, and will be responsible for growing a market segment. Additionally, this person will own existing client relationships, working across the organization on behalf of our customers to ensure excellent service.

This position will report to Examity’s Vice President, Strategic Accounts, and will be responsible for growing the higher education market segment. Additionally, this person will own existing client relationships, working across the organization on behalf of our customers to ensure excellent service. 

Essential Duties 

  • Drive new business and grow revenue through new client acquisition. 
  • • Develop a strategy for market ownership. 
  • Retain and grow your existing client base, working across the organization to ensure we are delivering excellence, in addition to serving as an escalation point as needed. 
  • Attend conferences and contribute market expertise. 
  • Translate customer and industry need to the product organization based upon the needs of your clients’ institutions. 

Requirements 

  • 5+ years of assessment market experience, serving or working for organizations with testing programs. 
  • • A bachelor’s degree. 
  • Enterprise sales experience and/or experience managing assessment programs in a market-facing role. 
  • An excellent communicator. Whether in conversation or writing, you deliver a clear and consistent message. 
  • Commitment to setting clear expectations and building relationships for success. 
  • • Eagerness to partner with all functional areas for a client’s success. 
  • Track record of industry involvement including, but not limited to, volunteering for industry conferences and membership organizations. 
  • Lifelong learner, continually growing in your understanding of our evolving market and customer solutions. 
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas.

Part-time Online Proctor (REMOTE)

Interested in a meaningful part-time work? Due to growth, Examity is looking for permanent part time online proctors to join our team (up to 30 hrs per week). As an online proctor you will play a pivotal role in guaranteeing the integrity of online learning. This position is remote and paid training will be provided. Both day and evening shift available. Next training class commences on January 11th, 2021.

Sun – Wed 11am-6pm EST*
Sun – Wed 4pm-11pm EST*
Thu – Sat 11am-6pm EST*
Thu – Sat 4pm-11pm EST*
Thu – Sat 6pm-1am EST*

Requirements:

  • Must have reliable internet connection and own/have access to a personal computer.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be fluent in English and demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Customer Service/tutoring experience preferred, not required
  • Basic trouble shooting skill with both Windows and Mac systems
  • Basic knowledge of computer software, online applications, Word and Excel
  • Must have access to a dedicated, quiet office area (enclosed room)

Required hardware and internet bandwidth

  • Windows OS or Mac OS
  • i5 processor or equivalent with minimum 8GB RAM
  • Reliable High-Speed Internet with minimum 20Mbps download/10Mbps upload (require proof of speeds and Hardware)
  • High resolution 24 inch Monitor (x2 preferred)
